Happy Fri-YAY Party people! Whoa, I am more pumped than ever that it’s the weekend. I had the day from hell yesterday and I am just ready to chill and be with my little family & friends! Today I am back with Part 2 of my Q&A post! This one is more personal questions and makeup/fashion related. I am sorry in advance that it is a little long…you might want to bring your favorite fall drink and a donut for this one. So, let’s jump right in, shall we?!
How did you learn so much about fashion and makeup? Oh lord, well I think it has been an ongoing obsession my whole life. I have always loved to get all dressed up and play with makeup. But learn? Trial and error. I remember the first time I tried to curl my hair myself. Whoa! That was a mess. Or the days of gold lips and black eyeshadow (not blended). I have always had a hunger for knowledge when it comes to fashion and beauty. Before the internet, reading magazines was my go to for new beauty and fashion tips. Now it’s Youtube! I have about five Youtube gurus that I am always learning from! I plan to do a post soon about my favorite gurus!
Aside from your family & friends, what is the thing you miss most about home? Everything! JK, no probably the food. St. Louis is such a foodie town. There are so many fabulous bars and restaurants. John and I are both foodies. Every time we talk about coming home we plan what places we want to hit.
If you could pick anywhere in the world to visit, where would you go? Italy or France. The wine countries of the world!
If you were going on a trip and were only allowed to take one makeup product, what would it be? Ugh, that’s a tough one. I would have to go with mascara. However, if by makeup you mean beauty products all around, it would be my moisturizer! I can’t live without it.
Do you think you’ll have more children in the future? Honestly no, not planned anyway (wink emoji). Part of me would love to give Char a forever best-friend, but babies are expensive and we just aren’t in a place to have another right now. And Army life isn’t always easy, so adding another life to the mix is just not what we want for our family right now. I am not saying never, maybe when she is a little older! For now, I love us as a trio!
What does life after the army look life? Well, I thought that would come sooner rather than later. As of right now we have another four years left in the Army. I would love to go back to work when we get settled in at the next post. So, hopefully in four years we will be back in St. Louis, MO with both of us working and Charlotte starting school!
How can I make my hair grow?! Your hair is beautiful and I want it. I have always had “good hair” (thanks Mom and Dad!) It’s never been hard for me to grow it crazy long. But, after I had Charlotte, my hair was a mess so I started taking hair, skin & nails vitamins and a multivitamin that I truly believe helped a lot! Oh, and deep conditioning. This is something I do a few times a week. I use the Macadamia Deep Repair Masque. This Masque is NEVER not in my shower. I have been using this for about four or five years now. It is a must if you color your hair, especially with bleach. Samantha-The Samantha Show www.thesamanthashow.com
What is your favorite type of eco-friendly foundation? How does it compare to other foundations? I have only experienced one completely eco-friendly foundation at this point and it is the Vapour Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation. If I am comparing it to my L’Oreal Lumi which is the closest non eco-friendly one I own: I would say it it just as good. It gives great coverage and is very dewy.
What do you think is this fall’s IT accessory? Everything fashion related is ALL about the 70’s right now. So, I would say floppy hats or handbags with tassels/fringe!
Where is the best place online to find great scarves for this fall? Online boutiques! These boutiques know where it’s at when it comes to scarves. But, Target is always a go to place for scarves locally.
What is your favorite topic to blog about? Beauty. I could chat about hair and makeup all day. I love to share fashion posts as well, but I am honestly not that great when it comes to writing about outfits! Robyn-http://www.pinklemonadediaries.com/
How did you fall in love with your husband? I love this one. Well, John and I met almost six years ago at a car dealership I was working at. At the time, he worked for a mobile car detailing company and I worked in the back accounting office where the keys were held. So, everyday when he would come to the payment window to get his keys for the day, we would chat a bit and learn more about each other. Little did he know, I was obsessed with him! I would hide the keys from all of the other girls in the office so he had to see ME everyday. After about a year of this, he finally asked me out on a date… and it was history from there! Who has been the most influential person in your life? I know this is so cliche, but my Mother. She has taught me to be an incredibly hard worker – she has worked full time my whole life. And now, in her 50s, she is still only on her 3rd job. She has also been the most understanding and kind person I have ever met. I wish I could be more like her in that aspect…maybe when I am older. HAHA. Joanna- Thejoannacollins.com
What is the biggest fashion blunder you have made? Hmmm, probably in my late teen years/early twenties when I mixed Abercrombie & Clubbing Clothes. God, I thought I was cool. Joanna- Thejoannacollins.com
What accessories do you end up feeling naked without? My purse. I NEVER leave the house without it. I carry around my life in that thing!
I’ve always had an unwritten rule (learned from my mother) that you can’t wear black shoes with a brown belt, or brown shoes with a black belt…Is this a thing, or is it something purely from the 1950’s? Yes that is a thing! For me anyway. But it depends on the brown. If it is lighter shades, like Cognac or Camel, I am all about that mix. But yes, your mother is on point, never were dark brown and black together. No No No.
What clothing (type/color/style) makes you feel most connected with your hometown? I instantly think fall clothing. Being here in GA, fall comes late and doesn’t last long. So, now when I think of fall attire I think of the Midwest. But if I had to pick ONE item, it would be a St. Louis Cardinals hoodie my father bought me. I always loved going to games when I lived there and I wore that hoodie all the time.
How often do you get to wear that connected feeling now? I haven’t broken it out in awhile, but with fall finally showing itself here in GA, I will be doing so soon!
How do you find clothes to fit your body type? This is another great one. Let me explain my after baby body type. I am 5’2″ (short I know), 150 lbs, 34DD, with a big bootie. It is not easy to find pants that fit me right that aren’t too long, or shirts that cover my breasts. Lately, I have been shopping at American Eagle again for jeans/pants, since they sell all of their sizes and styles in short. This is very important so my size 8-10 butt isn’t walking on the bottom on my jeans! Everything else I normally buy at Express. Express is my weakness when it comes to clothes. I can’t take it when they have their big clearance sales!
Any tips for shopping on a tight budget? Find great pieces that can be worn with any type of look. Shirts and pants that can be dressed up or down. And there are always stores like TJ Maxx or Marshalls! If you have the time and patience those are the stores I would recommend to check regularly for good deals.
What are your basic favorite fall looks everyone should have? Oversized plaid shirt, leggings and boots! Easy peasy!
How do you feel about Plum lipstick? Umm, love! Plums and Berries are my jam in the fall!
I’m a busy mom of two little ones, and we are always on the go. What are some easy go-to pieces you would suggest to spruce up an everyday outfit? For fall I would say scarves and riding boots. You can have leggings and a large, comfortable top on and pop on a scarf and boots and look completely put together but still feel like you are in sweats! Patricia-www.lifeofaministermom.com
What’s one makeup item you absolutely can’t live without? Mascara, it instantly makes you look so much more awake! Patricia-www.lifeofaministermom.com
If you could live absolutely anywhere in the world, where would that be and why? Well, pre-Army I would have said California. No bugs, no humidity – the weather is always perfect. However, now, I would say St. Louis, MO. I miss living in the Lou so much, it will always be where I want to end up. Patricia-www.lifeofaministermom.com

Love your answers! Your love story is so sweet!! American Eagle jeans are the best… I seriously won’t wear many other jean types just because they fit SO well!
