For the past oh, I dunno, six months? I have been quietly working on a fabulous new project with my long time friend Kayla, over at KaylaFarrington.com. Kayla (or as I will always call her, KB) and I have been friends since we were freshmen in high school. I’ll give you a little back story on our friendship. When I started high school it was super scary for me. I had just moved back to the small town I grew up in to live with my father for my high school years. I had lost most of the friends I had from grade school, from moving to a new town with my mother for my middle school years. The only friends I had were boys… my best friend from middle school was dating a boy from my new high school, so thankfully I knew him and a few of his friends. I still remember what I wore that first day. A sleeveless nude dressy top, tight fashionable (at the time) jeans and high heels… yes I said high heels. Oh and I can’t forget the gold lipstick. I remember seeing Kayla in the hallway that first week and thinking we would get along famously. She was probably the only other girl I noticed that was as dressed up as me. My thought? If she dresses like me then I am sure we will get along. Well, lucky for me she hung out in the same group of people that my new guy friends did. The first Friday of that week there was a football game that I attended with my guy friends. Kayla came up and asked if I wanted to come sit with her and her other girlfriends. I remember thinking “thank god, I can get away from these guys and talk about girly things” And that is just what we did.
From that moment on we were together all the time, and I am sure our fathers’ bank accounts suffered from this relationship. I can’t count the times we visited the mall together. We have always had a love of fashion in common. Fast forward to a few years into our twenties. For whatever reason we grew apart. Could have been a million reasons, but as you get old you sometimes go in different directions from friends you had when you were young. Now fast forward again to last Sept-Nov. I was super bored being a stay at home mom and decided I needed something to keep me busy, something I could maybe turn into a business that I could do from home: enter…blogging. At the same time 700 miles away, Kayla was starting her own lifestyle/fashion blog. Once I saw her post on social media about it, I instantly messaged her and told her about mine as well! We have talked almost every day since. It’s funny how you can grow apart with a friend but you will always have those same common interests. So, as time went on and we talked more and more about our outfits for the blog we decided… hey we can turn this shopping passion of ours into a business. That’s how Sixth and VINE was born!
For months we went back and forth on a name, what type of clothes we would carry, and what roles we would play in this new business. After lots of time and thought we came up with the business plan that she would be the owner of Sixth and VINE and I would be her CEO, if you will. She will be the front of house and I will be the back. With blogging I have also found a new love of website design and management. I never new that all of this would come so easily to me and how much I would love it. So this new online clothing boutique was right up my alley to practice my new hobby. I had a blast working on the website for Sixth and VINE, and have learned so much along the way.
Sixth and VINE boutique will carry the latest in affordably priced fashion. Shift dresses and floral kimonos. Rompers and maxi dresses. Denim shorts and graphic tees, and accessories and shoes to come in the near future. You name it we will have it. Along with this drop dead gorgeous aztec print dress! This dress is perfect for summer! The colors, the print, the cut outs…I am in love. Perfect for date night or a night on the town with the girls. When I see this dress I instantly think of sitting on a patio & sipping yummy cocktails.
Kayla and I have looked and looked to find the perfect pieces. You won’t find any cheap boutique clothes here. We are both so excited for you to see all of our hard work come together. SO the time has come, head over to www.sixthandvine.com now to find your new favorite piece!
