Phew, it has been a while since I’ve done a review on a makeup product…slacking much? With all the craziness of moving and living at my parents’ house, I seriously dropped the ball on review posts. But hey, I’m here now and that’s all that matters, right? There are quite a few products I have been loving over the last few months and I can’t wait to finally start sharing them with you. The product I am going to chat about today is definitely one of my top favorites – the Elcie Micro Silque Foundation. I first heard about Elcie Micro Silque Foundation months and months ago. It took me forever to get my hands on it. It would sell out the moment they would restock – which also wasn’t very often. Once I finally got my hands on it, it still wasn’t constantly stocked for the rest of you babes, so that’s another reason I wanted to wait to review it. I didn’t want to tell you how much I loved this product unless you could try it out yourself.
I feel like foundation is similar to the fountain of youth in that we are always searching for a it until we find the perfect one. I would venture to say that I have more foundations than any other product in my makeup collection – minus lip products – obviously. When it comes to makeup, our skin is the largest and most important part. So, we want to hide and cover any imperfection we have while still looking natural. We just want it all, don’t we? So, let’s chat about this Elcie foundation.
The number one reason I purchased this foundation was its claim to be a matte. For oily babes like myself, that’s SUPER important. It’s hard to find a matte foundation that doesn’t feel like it’s sucking the life out of your skin. This one happens to lay nicely on the skin and doesn’t give me that desert feel like some of my other matte foundations. It is a light weight but buildable foundation – which I love. The first application is on the sheer side, and the second application will give you a full coverage while still looking natural. Honestly, this is one of the prettiest finishes I have seen so far in my search for the perfect foundation.
I also love that this product has a pump! Pumps are major for me since I have acne prone skin. Products without pumps are just asking for you to add dirt and bacteria to your skin over and over.
The Elcie foundation comes in 12 shades ranging from fair to deep. I chose the second to lightest shade (cameo) since it was the winter – I probably could have even used the lightest. Don’t judge, I was pretty pale this winter. From what I can tell about my shade and other swatches I have seen, all the shades seem to have a yellowish undertone. For me, that’s perfect since I have a warm skintone – however, I don’t know how it would look on cooler toned skin.
Overall, I would have to say that this is one of my top three foundations…ever. However, since the price point is more on the high-end side, you won’t catch me wearing this to the store or just out around town. I tend to save this for photography days or special occasions. You can find the Elcie Micro Silque Foundation on the Elcie Cosmetics site and also on the Naimies site.
