With summer long gone and fall officially in full swing, I thought it was time to chat about my tan. Most of us trade our gorgeous summer glow for perfect pale skin during the fall & winter months. Traditionally, I am not one of this people. I love to have a healthy glow all year long. But as I have gotten older, I am not so hot on the super dark self tanners in these cooler months. As a result, I have become…pale. So pale. Since summer ended, I have been quietly obsessing on finding a tanner that is the perfect shade for the colder seasons.
Leave it to Instagram to save the day yet again in the beauty department. While vigorously scanning through photo after photo, I came across a pic of Stassi Schroeder from Vanderpump Rules, holding two white tubes of tanner. Those white tubes happened to be Tanceuticals CC self tanning lotion. So you know me and the marketing lover I am, I knew I had to check it out for myself.
AND Whoa, am I happy I did!
Ok, so let me start off with the scent. I am NOT kidding you I could smell the coconut scent before I even cut the package open. Self-tanners by nature have their own scent once they have settled into your skin. I really don’t think you can avoid it. This tanner however, did not give off that scent right away and the strong coconut scent stayed for awhile. I didn’t notice a change until the next day before I was going to shower. Once I showered, it was completely gone.
The color of this tanner is something I have not seen before. It is so natural. I have used other tanners that give off a natural deep summer glow but none that I would rock in the fall. My test for self-tanner is always the hand, wrist, and feet test. Does it give you that early 2000s gross color on your hands and feet? I swear on my lipstick collection that I rubbed this tanner on my hands, wrist and feet without being careful and was amazed by the outcome. No white lines where my wrist bends. No orange feet. And, my hands look completely natural. I know I’m being a little extra but this tanner is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I also tried the self tanning face lotion and loved that as well. Because I have acne prone skin, I do not even mess around with anything that isn’t made especially for the face. Lately, I have been using facial tanners a little differently. Now I only apply them in the areas I would contour my face – upper forehead around the hairline, hollows of the cheeks, down the sides of my nose, and under my jaw line down my neck. I tend to stay away from the center parts of my face. That way, when I apply foundation and contour, I have already put in the ground work to create shadows in those areas.
Another tip – Use an application mitt. I have said that before when talking about using other types of tanner, but it still holds true when applying a lotion form as well. I haven’t had a streak since I started using a mitt.

In all my years of self-tanner exploring, I have yet to try a self-tanner that gives such a pretty color and is good for your skin. The only down side for some may be that the cool is not overly dark. But I honestly love the natural color. This tanner is definitely a 10 out of 10.
Have you heard of Tanceuticals?
