Essential Oils. I am sure by now we have all heard of them. But if you are someone like me, then you didn’t know too too much about them. For a while it seemed like they had become a new fad like extreme couponing or At Home shopping parties. But, unlike those fads, this one seems to be sticking around. I see more and more people using and talking about essential oils. So, being the fad lover I am, I had to finally jump on the essential oils bandwagon.
When choosing a company to give these a first try…honestly, it was about price. I didn’t want to order from the big name companies and pay a ton of money (money that could be spent on makeup) and end up hating the product. In my online search for these seemingly amazing oils, I came across the Piping Rock website. The first thing that caught my eye was the price of the Pipping Rock Essential Oils – {Now I want to stop for a second and say that I have heard time and time again that you get what you pay for when it comes to essential oil. I want to also say that I was not looking for essential oils that I could ingest or use for medical purposes. I was simply on a quest for more of an aromatherapy type essential oil. When it comes to oils, I am no oil snob. Of course, I’m not knocking anyone who believes strongly in a particular brand or origin. I am a Starbucks snob myself. Anything but Starbucks coffee tastes terrible to me unless I make it at home myself. But that is neither here nor there.} Anyway back to my original thought… Their oils are priced MUCH lower than the larger brand names you see on your FB feed. Piping Rock also sells supplements/vitamins, fragrance oils, dried fruit and other snacks. They are a family owned company with over 40+ years in the natural products industry. And, I would like to add that their customer service and PR people are wonderful. Everyone I spoke with via email was incredibly nice and willing to help with any question I had. From working in customer service for years, I really appreciate people who take the time do do their jobs well.
When it came to choosing the oil, I really didn’t know where to start. Piping Rock has a large selection of oils to choose from. I spent a few hours on a couple different days reading about what each oil claims to do. Piping Rock has a 6 & 14 bottle starter kit, so I kind of went off that for a few of my choices. Lavender was my first obvious choice – followed by Peppermint, since that is John’s favorite. The other 11 are a mix of oils that I had been told I should try by friends or family, and reviews from customers on their site.
I also chose Piping Rock’s Mist Vapor Spa Ultrasonic Diffuser. This is actually the main reason I wanted to try essential oils. I love candles, wax burners, etc… Anything that gives off a heavenly scent is a winner for me. I truly believe that scents can affect our emotions and mood. As someone that suffers with depression and anxiety, I am always on the lookout for non-pharmacological treatments. Here are the oils I selected, in no particular order:

My final thought about these little babies? Love, I absolutely adore them. I love feeling like a little mad scientist/aromatherapy specialist when mixing my oils for the diffuser! I have been adding them to my baths, lotions and skincare products. They are just wonderful to me. I can’t wait to try more of them!
If you are new to the Essential Oils game, I would highly recommend trying Piping Rock. They have great prices and honestly I probably couldn’t tell the difference between the big essential oils brands and theirs. I am 100% won over by Piping Rock and their oils. You can check out all their essential oils & natural products at http://www.pipingrock.com/
