If you are a part of the beauty world on social media, I am almost positive you have heard about the brand Morphe. I learn about most of the newest products by watching Youtube Beauty gurus. Nicole Guerriero, Jaclyn Hill, Manny MUA etc… Awhile back, Jaclyn Hill started using Morphe products on her channel (which I watch religiously) and even collaborated with the company to form her own custom palette. From past purchases I have learned that anything she loves makeup wise I normally adore too. Sometimes new brands or products come out and people go nuts for them and then a few week later it’s on to the next thing. However, the Morphe brand has made a serious mark on the beauty world. So when I kept seeing her and other YouTubers and beauty bloggers still raving about them after all this time, I decided it was time to give them a whirl. Morphe, I think, is first and foremost a makeup brush company that has traveled into makeup products as well. I am happy with the brush selection I have now, so I opted to just try the shadows for the time being.
I wanted to try all the Morphe Eye Shadows, but I thought that may be too excessive for the first purchases. So, I purchased the 35N – 35 COLOR MATTE PALETTE and the 35E – ITS BLING EYE SHADOW PALETTE. The two that I selected were the best color fits for my skin tone and were the most fun!
The 35N is completely matte. No shimmers or frosts, just matte. I chose this palette because it has the best selection of the colors I reach for most often. I always hit pan on the matte neutral/warm shades first. This palette really blew me away. There are no other brands that I have come across at this price level that also has this high caliber of shadows. Most other brands at their price point are chalky and do not blend easily, especially for matte shadows. The range of colors in this palette is wonderful. You can create so many looks. Day/night, whatever you want.
Now the second palette I purchased was the 35E and it is a completely different animal. These shades are highly-pigmented, metallic eye shadows – not for the faint of heart. Morphe does offer palettes that are even more fun than this one, but I figured it would work well with the 35N palette. Again, I have to say I was impressed. With a lot metallic shadows there is a huge chance that you will get a ton of fall out while applying the shadow, especially if you are not using a good tool to apply them. I am not as all saying that you need to go out and spend $35 on a brush…hint hint since Morphe, from what I hear, sells brushes that are on par with MAC and Sigma (who I use) for a fraction of the price. Anyway, the range of color in this palette is perfect for summer- bright and colorful! And I would even dare to say they would look nice on all skin tones as well.
So let’s talk price. These palettes normally run around $20 ish. They are priced higher than that, but they often have sales, so I check their website often. Even at the regular price they are a great value for what you are getting. 35 pans of shadows for $20 that are pretty much the same quality as MAC? Yes, please. AND…there are always coupon codes to be found with beauty gurus. Morphe sells single shadows too. So, if you are just in the market for one or a few shades and do not want a palette, they have you covered. Price…$2.29. Ahhh right? I have no idea how they do it.
I mentioned above that Morphe is not just Shadows, they have brushes, contour/blush palettes, gel liners, foundation/concealer palettes and lip palettes. You name it.
So, my final thought on the Morphe Shadow obsession? I am obsessed! The onlyyyy thing I hate is the packaging. You know Mama loves good packaging. But if that is what the company has to do to sell quality shadows at such a cheap price, then I can definitely live with it.
If you are just getting into makeup and do not want to spend an arm and a leg for a “high end” brand palette, or go to MAC and spend your life savings on their single shadows, then I would definitely give one of the Morphe palettes a try. They are sold on their website @ – http://morphebrushes.com/
Have you tired any Morphe products? If so, which ones?
