When L’Oreal drops a new foundation, it always seems like Christmas to me. I have been wearing the original L’Oreal True Match since high school, and I always go back to it. Even after trying high end foundations, it has always been my ride or die. I am also a big fan of their True Match Lumi, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw L’Oreal had created the True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation. This is my first time trying a cushion type foundation, so I honestly didn’t know what to expect from it. But I had great hopes since it’s part of the L’Oreal Paris foundation family. I was super impressed that they created 12 shades, and stayed true to their traditional ranges. – Warm, Cool & Natural. I am in the shade w3, or w5 when I have applied self-tanner. If I’m super pale, I am N3.
My first experience with this foundation was all positive. First off, I ADORE the packaging. It is in a rose gold & white compact, and has a great mirror inside. Never underestimate the value of a good compact mirror, and this compact delivers. My first thought of the formula when I swatched it on my hand was that it was going to be medium to full coverage. You barely have to push down to pick up quite a bit of product. My shade W3 was true to color, there wasn’t a different at all when I compared it to my original L’Oreal True Match.
This foundation also comes with a little application puff inside. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed with the puff. But, I never really reach for the applicators that are sold with products anyway. The first time I applied this foundation, I used my Sigma 3DHD kabuki brush, and wasn’t in love with the end result. The second time, I used my beauty blender and was much more pleased with the way the foundation applied. The foundation is very light and airy on the skin and gives that glowing from within look we all strive for with a luminous foundation. It is a light to medium coverage, but you can layer it for a more full coverage look. However, for me, that perfect glowing from within look only lasted an hour or so before it started to break up and move around on my skin.
Disclaimer- I am super oily. The first few times I tested the product, I didn’t set it with a powder because I wanted to see the real look of it over the course of the day. The second time, I lightly set it with my Mac Mineralize Skinfinish, and it still broke up within an hour or two. Now the third time I applied the foundation, I went all out and applied a full face of makeup over top. By that I mean I used a primer, concealer, set my face with a powder, contoured & set with a setting spray…the whole nine. Sadly, the foundation still moved around. I’m so sad because I was so excited about this foundation, but my oily skin wasn’t on board. I would completely recommend this foundation to someone who has dry, or normal skin, and maybe even slightly oily. I am positive it would be gorgeous on you. But, if you are a super oily beast like myself, I would skip this one. L’Oreal, at least you’ll always have my heart with the OG True Match.
Have you tried the L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation? What are your thoughts?
