Who doesn’t love a long holiday weekend? I know I do, especially now that John is away at school. Long weekends mean my hubby comes to visit, and I have been patiently waiting for him. Last time we saw each other, I had some type of flu/cold that just wouldn’t go away. So, needless to say, we didn’t do anything fun together before he left for school. But this weekend we hit the ground running. We ran a few errands, went out with friends, celebrated a friend’s birthday, and spent some time being lazy watching movies with Charlotte.
Being a procrastinator, I waited until the last minute on Friday to finish up the laundry and make sure the room was in shape for John to come home to. John is one of those people who wants everything in its place, and I am over here like, “Wait I thought clothes went on the floor not the hanger?” But everything, well almost everything, was back in its place once he arrived Friday evening.
Charlotte was beyond excited to see her Daddy! When I walked upstairs from getting ready, she was sitting on his lap smiling ear to ear. When I came over to them and sat down, her little face lit up like a Christmas tree because her family was all together again. She kept giving us group hugs and saying “Mom, Dad, Mom Dad.” Seriously one of the cutest things she’s ever done.
After we finished dinner with the family and put Char to bed, John and I headed to Soulard to see my best friend Kayla at work and to meet up with my other bestie, Shanan. It still feels weird to go places alone with John. We are not used to having any “us” time. But us time we had, so we chatted with the girls and had one too many drinks. I am so happy to be home with my friends so close again.
Most of the day Saturday was a wash…too many drinks for this momma. I hadn’t drank vodka since I was home the last time…I think. Needless to say, I spent most of the day in bed before I had to get ready. I finally pulled myself out of bed and washed the night before off of me. A hot shower always helps. That evening, we made the drive out to Perryville, MO to celebrate John’s friend Drew’s birthday with a dinner at a local restaurant. We had not seen Drew and Cindy in person in a awhile, so it was really nice to catch up. We decided not to stay after dinner to hang out since the drive home was almost two hours. But I plan on making the trip down there again soon so Cindy and I can get our photog on together!
Sunday was a pretty eventful day. I went to the gym for the first time in god knows how long. John and I went grocery shopping for us and popped over to Petsmart to get food for the dogs as well. We stopped by and hung out with our fur babies for a while, which was wonderful. I have missed them so much, but with being sick I hadn’t made it over to the farm to see them. The rest of Sunday we spent together as a family, being lazy and watching movies. What’s better than that?
Speaking of that, if anyone in the STL area is ever looking for a place to kennel their dogs for a short or long term, I highly recommend Amanda at Canine Country Inn. (Facebook- Canine Country Inn) She has taken such good care of our pups. And it is not a traditional kennel where the dogs aren’t walked and don’t get any people time. Amanda even lets my dogs get into bed with her! She walks them quite a few times a day on their property and they get to experience so many new sights and smells! I love knowing they are in such good hands while I am here at my Mom’s.
Monday morning, John had to leave to get back to school to finish up some home work. (Insert ugly Kim K cry face) Char did pretty good with him leaving this time, there weren’t even any tears. We should see him again in another week or two and we will just FaceTime as much as we can until then!
This long weekend was so wonderful, I couldn’t have asked for a better one with my little family.
What did you do over the long weekend?

Awww! I can’t even imagine how hard it is for you when he leaves for school!!!! Hugs!!! One time recently, I thought I’d live it up like I was 21 again and hit some shots pretty hard at a birthday party. Needless to say, I was so hung over the next day that I thought I was dead, ha! I haven’t drank that much since, lol!!
