With the holidays right around the corner, I thought it was time to do a fun Holiday makeup look for you. Every year goes by faster and faster, how crazy is that? Thanksgiving is only three weeks away…eekk! With so much other planning that goes into the holidays, it’s nice to have a look ready for those special days.
For this look, I thought I would incorporate a trend that has been all the rage this season in the beauty world – Ombré Lips. From the Drag Queen world to the main stream, the ombré lip is officially a trend. Just like the ombré style of hair coloring, the lips are accomplished by seamlessly blending colors from dark to light. For this tutorial, I wanted to use my Milani lipsticks I picked up from CVS. They are highly pigmented and have great lasting power. And…they are super affordable since they are from the drug store!
For an ombré lip, you need at least two shades of the same color palette. However, I like to use three colors because it gives more dimension to the lip. Today I am going to show you two different ombré lips. One with warmer nude colors and the other with berry shades.
For this Holiday Ombré Lip Tutorial, I used Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Tuscan Toast, Bahama Beige, Matte Innocence (warm) and Brandy Berry, Blushing Beauty, Pink Frost (berry)
To start any lip-focused look, make sure you lips are exfoliated and hydrated. Don’t mind my chapped lips…they were putting up a serious fight.
- When creating an ombré lip, you want to start by lining your lips with a liner & the darkest shade first.
- Then, move on to your midtown shade. You want to blend these two shades together with a brush OR the best makeup tool ever… your finger! As I said before, you could stop with 2 shades, but I like to add a third to create a smoother transition of color.
- After you have blended the first two shades together, you want to apply the lightest shade to the center of your lips.
- Once you are done, you can go back with the other shades until you achieve the perfect blend of colors!
It’s that simple! A quick and easy look that gives your lips so much more dimension and fullness.
To complete this holiday look I also used…
–Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
–Milani Fierce Foil Eyeliner in Brown
–Milani Eye Shadow in Bella Caffe
–Milani Stay Put Brow in Brunette
I wanted to stay neutral on the eyes since I was creating such a bold lip. The Bella Caffe shadow is a really beautiful all over lid shade. I smoked out my upper and lower lash line with the Fierce Foil Eyeliner, and blended out with the Bella Caffe as well. For my brows, I have been on the HUNT for a great, inexpensive brow pomade. With this being the second drug store pomade I have tried, it really gave me the look I was going for. This pomade gave me the same results as a “high-end” brand at a fraction of the price – Score! Last but never least…Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. This is my ride or die blush and I use it to finish off almost every look.
Would you rock this trendy ombré lip?
P.S.- Check out this bomb giveaway…One lucky winner will receive a $500 CVS gift card and two winners will receive a $250 CVS gift card! This giveaway will end on November 30th!
