I feel like the title of this post explains my life lately. Fifty Shades of ADD is #mylife. With moving a few months ago, having a miscarriage, starting a new business, and being a stay at home mom, oh, and still trying to blog – I have really been struggling to keep it all together. My biggest problem right now is with my ADD, for once I feel like my anxiety is more under control (thanks to Nirvana Yoga KY). But, I still have days when I just can’t seem to chill out and think clearly. Sometimes I don’t even remember to text people back after I open the text… and by sometimes, I mean like all the time lately.
For as long as I can remember, I have had trouble remembering things and retaining information unless I learned it visually. I really struggled in school each and every year. It wasn’t until I was in my early 20’s that I figured out how to be organized and deal with my ADD. Around the time I was working in the accounting department at a used car dealership, I finally figured out that using a planner and making lists was the only way I would ever get all of my work done on time. Every morning I would come in and make a list of all the things I needed to get done that day. That way, when I would “ADD out” on one task, I would just bounce to the next thing until I finally had everything completed. I started doing the same thing with a planner; whenever I make plans I write them down. Now, sometimes my anxiety still keeps me from sticking to those plans, but at least I remember them.
These tricks have really helped to balance my home life, blog life, and my online store. Being a creative person, I am always coming up with new ideas for this blog or House of W, and if I don’t write them down right away, chances are my great ideas will be gone forever. I even color code things – hey, whatever helps, right?
So, because of all this organizing, I am always on the hunt for the best planners. A few months ago I came across the Bloom Planners and fell in love. I use their Monthly Planner for personal and basic work. The planner is HUGE, so I can fit everything I need to in the boxes: daycare, yoga class, blog posts & any other personal plans. It seriously could double as a desk planner because it’s so big. I use their Day Planner to manage everything work related – I try to make a work schedule around Charlotte’s daycare days. I edit photos on Monday, write on Wednesday, and work on new stuff for the store on Friday. Life doesn’t always go as planned, but we still have to try! Bloom Planners also have sections for goals for the year and “plan tos” for things like books you would like to read or places you would love to visit that year. I am such a believer in writing things down and visualizing what you want for your life. The more you see it and believe in it, the more likely you are to manifest it into your life. So, having little spaces to look back on thoughts, and hopes and dreams is so perfect for a day planner to remind you what you want!
I also use Bloom’s planning pad to write down all my crazy ideas. The planning pad and day planner are also small enough to fit in my bag so I can check on things or jot ideas down on the fly. The design I have is the “positive vibes only” because it helps me keep from getting overwhelmed and falling into destructive thought patterns.
Since I finally found a planner/planners to help me stay focused and combat my ADD, I thought it would be fun to team up with Bloom and do an awesome giveaway! Bloom and I have teamed up to give one lucky winner a BLOOM VINTAGE FLORAL PLANNER BUNDLE! There are 8 ways to enter in the Rafflecopter link below, and the giveaway will run until next Tuesday, Aug 2nd!
