Over the past few weeks I haven’t done much but lay around and watch Netflix. Between the stress of moving (hopefully) in a month and trying to find a place to live once we get to STL, I have been an emotional wreck in complete melt down status. When my anxiety is this bad, there isn’t much I can do besides stay home and just make it through the day. My blog was definitely on the back burner while my anxiety took center stage.
When I have moments like that, I tend to do the wrong thing and keep myself at home in front of the TV. Once Charlotte was down for her nap, it was a Netflixathon every day. Like most other girls, I have my Netflix obsessions. I proudly admit I have watched every Gossip Girl season not one, not two, but three times. I have done the same with Army Wives as well. I have covered most of the popular TV shows. But, I have become bored with those types of shows.
I am not sure when my love for documentaries started. I think when I was pregnant and I had an obsession with staying up late on the weekends to watch Prison documentaries. I’m not sure why I love jail docs so much, but it’s so amazing to see how the minds of others work. Over the past two years I have become a connoisseur of docs. I have watched so many I can’t keep count. Some are food, some are animals, and everything else in between. So I thought, why not share my favorites with you every so often? I find most of them on Netflix, but there are some from Amazon and other random sites online. For this first round, I am going to start with some popular films. If you haven’t seen these, you need to drop everything and set up shop on the couch asap.
Amy. This is one of the most heartbreaking stories I have ever watched. John and I are fans of her, him more than I. I love her music and watching these short videos all together about the years of her becoming an icon were so captivating. This is a must see for fans.
Black fish. The story behind the the killer whales and the truth about the sea-park industry. Such a powerful movie that has she’d so much light on the way these animals are treated in popular parks.
Somm. As a wine lover, this was a no brainier for me to watch. Somm is a film about four wine stewards preparing to take the Master Sommelier Exam. Super interesting how much time, knowledge and efftort goes into becoming a sommelier. Wine lovers this is a must watch for you.
Food Inc. We all eat food, and we all need to know where it comes from and how it’s made. The information about the food industry in America, including how food is mass produced just completely shocked me.
Do you watch documentaries? Which ones do you love?

I’ve been curious about the Amy Winehouse doc–now I’ll definitely give it a watch!
